Spring Mornings & Quarantine

Spring has finally come to the farm. With a long dreary winter, it is very welcome here. With the Covid 19 outbreak, work has shifted. My traveling plans for work have all been shuttered, but things are moving right along regardless. Being a career remote worker has its advantages during these once in a lifetime situations.

You can see some of my recent background painting work on the new SomethingElseYT video. We’re also close to wrapping up the 10 Axes Video series for Brent Bailey Forge. With two videos left, this has been a fun production. On a larger scale, my work at the NMLRA has increased due to COVID19. We’re doing our best to help vendors and craftspeople during this trying time. In addition to support, we’re bringing new “At Home Activities” to the muzzleloading and living history community to combat cabin fever. The seriousness of the virus cannot be ignored, but it has been fun trying some new things.

With the warmer weather comes garden prep. This past week we set 400 feet of fence for a new chicken pasture, this gets the bird out of the garden and lets us start prepping for planting. We’re adding a Greenhouse to the south side of our barn so Paisley can still garden without agitating her arthritis too much. We’ll be fencing in a secondary garden as well to support some new varieties that Paisley has planned. Having gone through one year of planting and preserving, we have a better idea of how much to grow this year.
